Madera Beckham grew up in Memphis, Tennessee where she attended St. Mary’s Episcopal School. She received her BA from University of the South, her MS Psychology from University of Memphis and her MS Social Work from University of Tennessee. Her Social Work Internship was with Vanderbilt University’s Counseling Center.
For the past 17 years, Madera has worked at Ensworth School in Nashville, Tennessee in the Admission Office, while raising her two sons, now 19 and 22 years old. She was married for 20 years and now divorced since 2016. Louie, her black lab, is 11 years old and also a family member.
Madera has been a student of self-improvement for the past thirty years with experience in psychodynamic therapy and imago therapy. She has a thirty-year practice of Journaling, and completed her Masters’ thesis on Cognitive Styles and Depression. She has done extensive research in the field of mind-body connection and neuroscience.
Madera was alcohol-free for twenty-four years, and after having a slip, researched and used a more innovative method to return to her alcohol-free lifestyle. Her interests include barre classes, tennis, reading fiction and hiking.
